The Specializing Master in "Transportation & Automobile Design" aims to train a designer with a complete vision of the design process as commonly in use at major automobile Style Centres. The world of automobile and his design culture show a big complexity and specificity, that can’t disregard the comprehension of the entire system of style development. This awareness helps and allows the interaction among all elements that contribute to solve economic, technical, stylistic and marketing problems. A new car must be designed in its technical, social and economical context, at least four years in advance.
The choice of implementing a Specializing Master in Vehicle Design in synergy with FIAT Group Automobiles arises from the will to transfer the
know-how derived directly from business procedures and work methods. The course wants to be the answer to the need of a highly specialized and heterogeneous professional training for those coming from the most diverse training backgrounds (technical, university level, universities) and moreover to fulfill the learning request of those who derived their specific knowledge from an extensive automobile experience, business practice and personal passion.
We mean to train designers of excellence, as many of italian car design history, but we are also committed to transfer a wide range of competences which are not commonly found in most of standard university courses.

FIAT Group Automobiles provides his patronage to this course and contributes with his staff to guarantee that the didactics development will fit with demands of companies that work in this field.
The result of this course is an innovative professional figure with advanced competences that pertain to principal activities related to car styling. Indeed, during the course the student acquires competences to operate in terms of “problem setting” and of “problem solving” within the sector of car designing, as well developed in Style Centre. The student will develop also competences in interior design, in study of materials and colours, as well as specialist technical abilities like physical modelling with clay or virtual modelling and other techniques of presentation in the virtual theatre. In this way, the use of Indaco Department structures of Politecnico di Milano, like Model Lab and Virtual Prototyping Lab, enriches formative supply guaranteeing the availability of structure fitting the course objectives.
At the end of the course the student will be able to introduce himself into the car design process, not only in traditional roles and companies, but also into the network of companies that act, interact and cooperate with Style Centre for co-design development. This will be possible because the student will be able to manage all problems that can be introduce in working group, supporting creativity process.

At the end, standing the test, from the Politecnico di Milano will be release the title of Specializing Master in "Transportation & Automobile Design".
